One man's junk....

Wow, look what I obtained from our local freecycle group !

I have been wanting one of these for so long, but couldn't justify buying one, and then all of a sudden, up popped this! It is going to be a perfect sewing machine to teach the girls how to sew on.It needs some TLC, but I'm looking forward to restoring it. First thing will be to take off this awful 'wood EFFECT' sticky back plastic, from the lovely REAL wood casing. AAARGH! Why would some one do that?!

I think I've identified it correctly as a 99k series, made in 1928. Now I'm off to browse eBay to see if I can find a manual...

  1. OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH That's lovely!!

The window of All Saints in the Trafford centre currently has LOTS of them - I mean maybe a hundred?? - all on display - let me see if I can find a pic

Congratulations by the way!! I'm ever so slightly jealous!!

It's not the Trafford centre but the shop in central Mnchester - maybe they moved them around? In fact looking at the date on the blog post, I saw them in the Trafford centre on the 24th and the post is dated the 25th so maybe they both had them at the same time.. I imagine it's quite a big job to shift and display that lot!!

The number of people coo-ing over the machines was bigger than the number of people going into the shop!! LOL

  3. Wow, what a machine! Looks daunting though, think I'll stick to my computerised one :)

  4. That's a beautiful little machine. Does it have a shuttle or a round bobbin?

You can get a manual on line if you search for it. Also, there is a Singers machine group on Yahoo. I hope you've found all this out already but just in case you didn't.. I had two of these machines and gave one to my DD who sews on it quite often.
